Vendor Spotlight: Hair by Zack Clarke

If you’ve looked at my portfolio, you’ve definitely seen some of Zacks work too (and he also happens to be my best friend). Scroll down to read more about his career as a bridal hair artist.

Can you talk a bit about your background and how you got started in the bridal hair industry?

I got started in the bridal industry early in my career. I started assisting another stylist doing weddings while I was in hair school.

What inspired you to specialize in bridal hair artistry?

My love for styling & also the demand for bridal stylists in the area inspired me to specialize in bridal styling. I discovered something that came naturally to me and I enjoyed doing, and also seeing how few stylists in the area enjoyed doing bridal styles made me want to fill the demand.

What are some of your favorite bridal hair trends right now?

My favourite bridal hair trends at the moment are old Hollywood waves & 90s Pamela Anderson updos.

What advice would you give to brides when choosing their wedding day hairstyle?

My advice for brides choosing a hairstyle is to look at your wedding as a whole. Make sure your hair/makeup/dress/decor all fits the same vibe. Also to work with your hair vs against it. If you know your hair doesn’t hold a curl well, consider an updo. But most of all choose a style that makes you feel comfortable.

Are there any hair care tips you recommend for brides leading up to their wedding?

Hair care tips I’d recommend leading up to the wedding are to start incorporating a hair mask a few months before based on your hair needs. For the week of the wedding I’d recommend getting a blowout from a stylist who can prep your hair with the right products to make styling a success.

Can you share a memorable experience from your career as a bridal hair artist?

My most memorable experience from my career is when I first met Lauren (but she doesn't remember it ….. )

For good measure - What is your favourite Britney Spears song?

We can’t choose favourites (Honourable mentions: Womanizer, Baby One More Time, Boys)
